279 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the proposals, if any, he has made, at European or international level, regarding the electronic dissemination of illegal material, including child pornography; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3331/98]
The problem of electronic dissemination of illegal material is being addressed in a number of international fora, including working groups set up within the European Union and the OECD. My Department, in conjunction with other Departments, is actively participating in this work.
In addition, the Working Group on the Illegal and Harmful Use of the Internet, which was established by my Department, has been continually monitoring these developments in the context of preparing its proposals for addressing this issue. The interim report of the group is expected within the next few weeks.
