Vol. 486 No. 6

Written Answers. - Communications Masts.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

330 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the widespread concern of parents of having mobile telephone masts erected in close proximity to schools; and the Department's policies regarding these masts. [3248/98]

The erection of a mobile telephone mast is subject to normal planning regulations which are administered by the relevant local authority. Where parents are concerned about the effect of an individual telephone mast which it is proposed to locate in close proximity to a school, they should make their concerns known during the planning process.
