66 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if the tachograph on a lorry involved in an accident (details supplied) on the N4 on 5 November 1997 was examined by the gardaí; if so, the result of that examination; the action, if any, taken in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have been informed by the Garda authorities that a file on the case referred to by the Deputy has been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The Deputy will appreciate that in the circumstances it would be inappropriate for me to comment on the case.
