Vol. 487 No. 3

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Paul Bradford

Question:

257 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if a ramp will be provided at Ballynoe garda station, County Cork; and if a telephone answering machine will also be supplied. [3935/98]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that it is not their policy to have answering machines on telephone lines where the public are seeking a service. As an alternative the question of installing a call diversion system at Ballynoe Garda station is being pursued.

The issue of wheelchair access to Garda Stations is currently being prioritised on a national basis in the context of new Garda buildings and major refurbishment of existing ones. Ballynoe will be borne in mind in this regard.
