Vol. 487 No. 4

Written Answers. - Director of Consumer Affairs.

David Stanton

Question:

99 Mr. Stanton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she will report on the most recent contacts with the Director of Consumer Affairs; the issues raised; and the response of the Government. [4176/98]

The Director of Consumer Affairs is an independent statutory officer who submits an annual report to me each year. The next report is due before 31 March, 1998. Besides the annual report there is ongoing contact between the director and officials of my Department in relation to resources and consumer protection legislation. The most recent meeting took place on 13 February and I am informed that both sides were satisfied with the outcome.
