Question:

99 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Health and Children when he will replace the Adoption Board; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that parents are very distressed in view of the fact that they are unable to proceed with adoptions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4442/98]

I am pleased to advise the Deputy that the Adoption Board has been appointed for a five year term of office, 10 February 1998 to 9 February 2003. The board will be chaired by Judge Mary Fahey and the details of the deputy chairman and ordinary membership are as follows: Ms Orlaith Traynor, Solicitor — Deputy Chairman; Dr. Deirdre McIntyre, Board Member; Mr. Seagh MacSiurdan, Board Member; Dr. Valerie O'Brien, Board Member; Ms Margaret Dromey, Board Member; Mr. Fachtna Whittle, Board Member; Ms Siobhan Keogh, Board Member, Ms Sharon O'Driscoll, Board Member.
