213 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will designate a named official in each of the relevant departments to have responsibility for child care in relation to the appointment of a cross-departmental team to assist the Minister of State in his child care responsibilities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Following a formal Delegation of Functions Order in respect of my role in the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform, a senior official in that Department has been designated to work for me in respect of the areas of responsibility assigned to me as is also the case in the Department of Health and Children. A similar appointment will be made shortly in regard to the Department of Education and Science.
