Written Answers - Grant Payments.

Michael Moynihan

Question:

164 Mr. M. Moynihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when the 1997 headage grant for a person (details supplied) will be paid. [4973/98]

The person named was paid an amount of £336.59 under the 1997 cattle headage scheme on 28 November 1997. The balance of his entitlement under this scheme will issue within the next two weeks.

Dick Spring

Question:

165 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person (details supplied) in County Kerry can qualify for category 1 payments in relation to reactor cattle removed from his farm on 3 February 1998. [4974/98]

The herdowner in question purchased an animal which, though pre-movement tested, was not post-movement tested in his herd within the prescribed period prior to the breakdown of the herd with brucellosis in January 1998. Under the current brucellosis eradication scheme compensation arrangements, the appropriate category of grant in this case is category 2.
