Vol. 488 No. 5

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

David Stanton

Question:

70 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of applicants that qualified for installation aid but had not been paid prior to the termination of the scheme in 1997; the number of these applicants paid in 1998; the amount paid out to these applicants in 1998; the number of these applicants yet to be paid; the estimated cost of outstanding payments; the amount of total funding that he has allocated to make payment to all of these applicants; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6717/98]

A total of 728 applicants have been paid installation aid since the scheme was suspended on 7 August 1997 — 221 of whom were paid a total of £1,237,600 in 1998.

An amount of £3.753 million has been provided in 1998 to enable all valid applications received in my Department to be processed and paid during this year. The number of valid applications will be determined by how much of the outstanding documentation such as copy folios, educational certificates, etc. is received to support the remaining applications on hand and allow them be processed for payment before the end of the year.
