49 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation when the proposed independent research body into the drugs crisis will be established; and the decisions, if any, the Cabinet committee on social inclusion and drugs have made in this regard. [6463/98]
The national drugs strategy team is currently preparing proposals regarding appropriate structures for research into the causes, effects, trends, etc., of drug misuse, and the evaluation of different models of treatment. I intend to consider these proposals, when finalised, following which I will make a submission to the Cabinet Committee on Social Inclusion and Drugs which will report to Government on the matter.
