32 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Education and Science if the legislation for the bonding of third level private colleges will be enacted in time for the 1998-99 academic year; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7540/98]
My Department is examining the various options available with a view to enabling me to make appropriate legislative provision at the earliest opportunity. It has been necessary to seek legal advice in relation to a number of issues involved. While I intend to deal with the question of bonding in a Bill this year, it is not possible at this stage to indicate whether the legislation will be passed and the necessary practical arrangements put in place for the 1998-99 academic year.
