Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

73 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will provide the necessary funding to enable the extension to St. Michael's College, Listowel, County Kerry, to go to tender. [7481/98]

Architectural planning for the proposed extension of 714 square metres at St. Michael's College, Listowel, County Kerry, is proceeding. On 5 February 1998, my Department approved the stage 3 documentation and requested the school authorities to submit the detailed design and contract documents for the project. This documentation is still awaited. When the documentation has been submitted and if it is satisfactory, the project will go to tender. A decision to proceed to construction will be made in the light of available capital resources.
