Vol. 489 No. 3

Written Answers. - Nursing Home Subventions.

Michael Ferris

Question:

178 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Health and Children the income guidelines for nursing home subvention at the inception of the scheme; the income guidelines in operation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8184/98]

Applications for nursing home subventions are dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the Health (Nursing Homes) Act, 1990 and the Nursing Homes (Subvention) Regulations, 1993.

When considering an application for subvention, a full assessment of the applicant's means and circumstances is undertaken by health boards. Conditions governing the assessment of means and circumstances are set out in the 1993 Regulations which were subsequently amended in July 1996, copies of which I will forward to the Deputy.
