Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

123 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the funds sought by, or are available to, Kildare County Council for the provision of group sewerage schemes or small schemes in 1998; if his Department has received requests in relation to specified schemes in 1998 from this council; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8532/98]

Under the rural water programme each county council was asked to submit a multi-annual programme setting out the council's proposed work programme in relation group and small public water and sewerage schemes in the period 1998-2000. On foot of the submission, a block grant allocation of £337,250 was notified to Kildare County Council. An allocation of £220,000 from the European Regional Development Fund was also made in respect of the Rathcoffey group water scheme under the group water scheme measure of the Operational Programme for Environmental Services.

A copy of the submission from Kildare County Council will be forwarded to the Deputy.
