Vol. 489 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jim Higgins

Question:

89 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of applications for livestock grants disallowed because the documentation could not be located in his Department; and the number of these applications eventually paid on the basis that the documentation was subsequently discovered in relation to the years 1996 and 1997. [8499/98]

The position is that in those instances where an applicant contends that he has submitted an application and/or supporting documentation to my Department and where such material was not received, my Department will accept copies where proof of posting of the original is provided. There will be instances where, for whatever reason, material which has been posted fails to reach my Department. In addition, cases will arise from time to time where supporting documentation is submitted without sufficient information such as herdnumber, name and address etc., to allow it to be associated with the original application. My Department would not generally disallow applications until every opportunity is afforded to the applicant to supply whatever documentation is required in support of an application.

If the Deputy has particular cases in mind I will gladly have them investigated on receipt of relevant details.

John McGuinness

Question:

90 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his Department will accept a late application for the installation aid scheme from a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny in view of the fact that the herd number was not supplied by the DVO until after the closing date, further delay was caused in the issue of a dealing number and these procedures were outside the control of the applicant. [8500/98]

John McGuinness

Question:

91 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his Department will accept a late application for the installation aid scheme from a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny in view of the fact that the herd number was not issued by the DVO until after the closing date, further delay was caused in the issued of a dealing number and these procedures were outside the control of the applicant. [8501/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 90 and 91 together.

The applications cannot be accepted in these cases as the scheme of installation aid was closed to new applicants on 7 August 1997.

Liam Aylward

Question:

92 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will have provisional approval issued for a grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny for the provision of a slatted unit. [8533/98]

All the on-farm investment schemes are closed to new applicants. My Department has no record of having received an application from this person in respect of a slatted unit prior to the closure of the schemes. In the circumstances it is not possible for my Department to accept any such application.
