Question:145 Mr. Hogan asked the Taoiseach if he will give a breakdown of the payments, including salary shift allowances and overtime, to the manager of the communications unit in his Department since 26 June 1997 to date. [8804/98]

The manager of the communications unit receives a salary of £30,971 per annum the minimum point of the assistant principal (higher) scale with effect from 1 April 1998. Neither a shift allowance nor overtime is payable.
The manager of the communications unit was appointed on 21 July 1997. Between that date and 21 April 1998, the salary paid amounts to £22,974.
