Vol. 489 No. 6

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

673 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will provide funding for the provision of suitable surface on the school yard at St. Mary's National School, Three Mile House, County Monaghan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8589/98]

An application has been received by my Department from St. Mary's National School, Three Mile House, County Monaghan, for grant-aid towards the cost of improvement works on the school yard.

As the Deputy will be aware, the demands for capital funding in the primary sector are considerable. While I am not currently in a position to give a commitment on the funding of this project, I assure the Deputy that the needs of the school will be considered in the context of future capital allocations.
