Vol. 490 No. 2

Written Answers - Corporation Tax.

Michael Noonan

Question:

37 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Finance if he has finalised arrangements with the EU Commission on the introduction of a 12.5 per cent rate of corporation tax as announced in the budget; the progress, if any, made with the Commission on this matter; and the agreed timetable for introducing the 12.5 per cent rate. [9610/98]

Arrangements for the introduction of the 12.5 per cent rate of corporation tax have not yet been finalised with the EU Commission. Senior officials of my Department and the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment are engaged in discussions with Commission officials on the timetable for introducing the 12.5 per cent rate. I am hopeful that these discussions can be concluded at an early date.
