Vol. 490 No. 5

Written Answers. - Ministerial Staff.

Nora Owen

Question:

145 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the advisers, programme managers or public relation officers attached to his office; whether those persons are civil servants or private sector employees; when they were employed for this work; the costs associated with these persons; and whether their work is full or part-time. [10705/98]

The information in respect of advisers and programme managers attached to my office is as outlined below. No public relations officers have been engaged by my office.

There is one special adviser attached to my office at a salary of £45,786 per annum. A co-ordinator between each of the Ministers of State was also appointed on 2 September 1997 on a salary of £36,757 per annum. Both of these officers are engaged on a full time basis. One of the officers is on secondment from a semi-state agency and the other from the private sector.

The above compares with the situation up to 28 June 1997 when a programme manager and a special adviser were attached to the Minister's Office each with an annual salary of £45,525, and a special adviser attached to the office of the Minister of State with an annual salary of £32,639.
