Vol. 490 No. 7

Written Answers. - Orthodontic Service.

David Stanton

Question:

183 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Health and Children the number awaiting assessment and treatment for orthodontic services at St. Finbarr's Hospital, Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11354/98]

The provision of orthodontic services to eligible persons in St. Finbarr's Hospital and the maintenance of waiting lists is the statutory responsibility of the Southern Health Board.

I have been advised by the Southern Health Board that the total number of patients awaiting assessment for orthodontic services is 5,000 and the total number of patients awaiting treatment is 2,000.
