Vol. 491 No. 1

Written Answers. - Residency Applications.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

99 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will make a decision on the application of a family (details supplied) for a residency permit to enable them to claim social welfare entitlements for their son, born in Ireland, who suffers from Aperts syndrome; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11556/98]

This case in under consideration.

The issue of social welfare entitlements is a matter for the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs. However, I understand that the family's position in that regard is that the amount of weekly payments is the same irrespective of whether a decision on permission to remain in the State has or has not been made.
