Written Answers. - Prisoner Transfers.

John Gormley

Question:

95 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the conditions which attach to the recent repatriation of prisoners from prisons in the United Kingdom to prisons in this jurisdiction. [11536/98]

The prisoners referred to were transferred here from the United Kingdom to serve the balance of their sentences under the provisions of the Council of Europe Convention on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons. Their sentences, as with all prisoners transferred here, will be administered under the continued enforcement procedure in accordance with article 10 of the convention.
