Vol. 491 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. - Freedom of Information Act.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

6 Mr. Quinn asked the Taoiseach the number of requests his Department has received under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act, 1997; the length of time it is taking to process those applications; and the average cost to the public of requests sought to date. [12028/98]

Since the Act commenced on 21 April my Department has received 19 requests. All the requests fully processed to date have been dealt with within the four weeks allowed under the Act. The specific length of time taken to process each request within this time limit varies, depending on the complexity of the request and the volume of records requested.

There have been no charges to the public in respect of requests processed to date.
