Parliamentary Questions: Motion.

I move:

That, with effect from 2nd June, 1998, until the end of this session:—

(a) Standing Order 35 (2) of the Standing Orders of Dáil Éireann relative to Public Business be amended by:—

(i) the deletion of "twenty-five minutes" and the substitution therefor of "fifteen minutes";

(ii) the deletion of "one hour" and the substitution therefor of "fifty minutes", and

(iii) the deletion of "twenty minutes" and the substitution therefor of "thirty minutes";

and

(b) Standing Order 38 of the Standing Orders of Dáil Éireann relative to Public Business be amended by the deletion of paragraph (2) and the substitution therefor of the following paragraph:—

"(2) The time allowed for each Question nominated for priority shall not exceed six minutes: Provided that, of this six minutes, the time allowed for the initial Ministerial reply shall not exceed two minutes. Provided further that, where a Minister or Minister of State so requests, the Ceann Comhairle shall direct that a statement containing additional information which is directly relevant to the Ministerial reply be furnished in the Official Report of the Debates, such statement being referred to in the course of the reply.".
