Vol. 491 No. 5

Written Answers. - Research Funding.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

82 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will guarantee the future funding of a foundation (details supplied) in County Cork; if he will ensure that funding of the foundation will continue after its funding grant runs out in January 2002; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12522/98]

The foundation referred to by the Deputy currently receives financial assistance from the Health Research Board. This financial assistance is secure until the end of 2001. The foundation may wish to request further financial assistance during 2001 towards its activities beyond 2001 from the Southern Health Board or the Health Research Board. The Deputy may be assured that I recognise the valuable role performed by the foundation in this area.
