Vol. 491 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Ulick Burke

Question:

127 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason his Department has not paid a 1997 area aid grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway in view of the fact that there has been no change in land area but a variation has been notified without his knowledge; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12859/98]

The person concerned submitted an area aid application in 1997 with a declared forage area of 2.89 hectares. Since the minimum forage area declaration required for headage payments is three hectares the person concerned does not qualify for headage payments for 1997. I have asked my officials to have the matter examined further.

Question:

128 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Galway has not been granted and approved for relocation of his farmyard building under the appropriate scheme for farmyard relocations as a result of flooding in south Galway; when he will be notified of this approval; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12860/98]

The application under the relocation of farmyard-flood damage relief scheme in this case was not approved as the main farmyard was not subjected to substantial flooding in 1995. The applicant was informed of the position in writing on 11 March 1997.
