Vol. 491 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Beverley Flynn

Question:

135 Ms Cooper-Flynn asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive his installation aid grant. [12885/98]

While a form SIA 3 setting out the work unit of the farm was received from this person July 1997, a formal application was not lodged with my Department until 1 September 1997. As the scheme of installation aid closed to new applications on 7 August 1997 this application cannot be processed.

Question:

136 Ms Cooper-Flynn asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo has had a penalty imposed on his next REP scheme payment in view of the fact that he has complied with the requirements that were asked of him. [12886/98]

As a result of a compliance check, the applicant was found not to be complying with the terms of his agri-environmental plan. A penalty of 25 per cent was, accordingly, imposed. The applicant has appealed this penalty to the Department's appeal committee. A report is being prepared on this case which will be listed for hearing at the next appeals committee meeting in the coming weeks.
