Vol. 491 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions.

On a point of information, a comprehensive set of questions which I addressed to the Taoiseach with regard to the his political responsibilities in respect of the Cardiff Summit were transferred to the Minister for Foreign Affairs. I wish to inform the Taoiseach that I will resubmit the questions for next week and I request that he answers them.

The Deputy is aware that the Chair has no responsibility in the transfer of questions.

Sir, it is precisely because you have no such responsibility and that the rules were changed recently——

We cannot have a discussion on the matter. The Deputy is out of order raising it at this point.

Clarification on this matter is required. It is now the procedure that where a question tabled to one Minister is transferred to another the decision is the exclusive political responsibility of the head of the Department. Questions tabled by me with regard to the Taoiseach's functions were transferred——

We cannot discuss the matter now. We must proceed with questions.

I was not seeking a debate, merely information.
