Vol. 491 No. 6

Written Answers. - Legal Aid Service.

Michael Ferris

Question:

250 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will give details of the free legal aid service available in south Tipperary; and if he will provide a law centre for south Tipperary. [12899/98]

The Legal Aid Board provides legal services in civil matters in south Tipperary from a part-time law centre located in Clonmel, which operates out of the Citizens Information Centre, Market Place Shopping Centre, Emmet Street. The Clonmel Law Centre is serviced by a solicitor from the full-time law centre at Nenagh and is open on the first, second and third Monday of every month. In addition there are full-time law centres at Waterford, Limerick and Kilkenny.

The Legal Aid Board has no plans to open a full-time law centre in south Tipperary. However, the matter will be kept under review and will be considered further in the light of any future proposals to develop and expand the service.
