An internal departmental evaluation in 1997 of available data indicated a retention rate to completion of senior cycle of 82.1 per cent.
The ESRI annual school leavers surveys — data applicable to year prior to survey — indicated rates of retention to completion of senior cycle as follows: 1996 survey, 80.8 per cent; 1995 survey, 81.9 per cent; 1994 survey, 79.3 per cent; and 1993 survey, 79.8 per cent.
