Vol. 491 No. 6

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Nora Owen

Question:

284 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department is proceeding with plans to extend the national schools, boys and girls, in Donabate, County Dublin, while at the same time planning a new school which will be needed into the future. [12716/98]

The existing national schools in Donabate sought a permanent extension to cope with increased pupil numbers. My Department agreed to the provision of the major extension and advised the schools accordingly. My Department has no immediate plans for the provision of a new school in Donabate. However, the situation will be kept under continuous review by the planning section of my Department in light of demographic trends and future housing development in the area.
