Vol. 491 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Building Projects.

Michael Ring

Question:

289 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science whether a national school (details supplied) in County Mayo can be provided with a permanent stone building rather than a pre-fab to alleviate its overcrowding problem in view of the isolated and exposed location of the school. [12737/98]

The school to which the Deputy refers applied recently to my Department for grant aid towards the provision of an additional classroom.

The planning and building unit of my Department is currently reviewing any accommodation needs of the school. When this review is complete my Department will be in a better position to determine how to address my accommodation difficulties at the school.
