Vol. 491 No. 6

Written Answers. - Alternative Energy Projects.

Question:

40 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise when the waste to energy power generator station, proposed to be built at Godamendy, Ballcoolin, County Dublin and which was to receive ECU 9.3 million of EU aid, will go ahead; the projects the ECU 9.3 million of aid has been reallocated to; and if these include other alternative energy projects. [12866/98]

The decision of the European Commission in regard to the European Regional Development Fund aid for this project has been communicated to the project promoters, from whom a formal response is awaited. As regards the future allocation of the ECU, 9.3 million I refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 18 of 2 April 1998 in which I explained the function of the Community Support Framework monitoring committee. The committee has not yet made its decision.
