Vol. 491 No. 6

Written Answers. - Aer Lingus Executives.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

54 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Public Enterprise her views on whether a conflict of interest existed whereby a director of Aer Lingus recommended the incumbent chief executive of Aer Lingus as a prospective senior appointee to the Smurfit Group; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12806/98]

I am informed by the executive chairman of Aer Lingus that the involvement of a director of the company in this matter was limited to confirming that the chief executive was considering a return to the private sector.
