Question:226 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science the areas of the Department's activities from which it is planned to withdraw resources in line with the new strategy statement. [13286/98]

At present the organisational structures in the Department are under review in order to streamline the organisation of functions and to establish the appropriate structure to respond to and to underpin in the most effective way the implementation of the Department's strategy. In this context my Department is continuing to work, within Government guidelines on public sector employment, with the Department of Finance towards providing the level of financial and human resources necessary to achieve its goals, objectives and outputs.
