Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Wall — the need to implement measures to attract industry and employment to Athy, County Kildare, to replace the serious job losses the town and surrounding area have suffered in recent years; (2) Deputy Brian Lenihan — the special education needs of autistic children and, in particular, the future of Beechpark special school, Stillorgan, County Dublin; (3) Deputy Lawlor — the possibilities for increasing the pressure on the new regime in Indonesia in relation to vindicating the basic human rights of the people of East Timor now that President Suharto has departed; (4) Deputy McGinley — the urgent need to have residential care facilities for the elderly on Arranmore Island, County Donegal; (5) Deputy Flanagan — the incidence of hepatitis A in primary schools and the need for action thereon; (6) Deputy Rabbitte — the reasons given by a member of the Insurance Ombudsman Council for his resignation from the council and the need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to outline the steps she has taken to satisfy herself as to the veracity of these reasons; (7) Deputy Timmins — the provision of an ambulance service for Arklow, County Wicklow; (8) Deputy Deenihan — the increase in the incidence of brucellosis in north Kerry and the need to intensify efforts to control and eradicate the disease in that area; (9) Deputy Hayes — the need to address the serious financial position facing a number of organisations partially funded by the European Social Fund under the INTERREG II programme and to clarify when funding will become available for these organisations; (10) Deputy Gilmore — the discovery of a number of phosphorus incendiary devices along the east coast; the steps being taken to protect the public from these devices and to determine the origin of the bombs; (11) Deputy Enright — the failure of the Minister for Health and Children and the Midland Health Board to provide the necessary staff to facilitate patients entering the new unit at Edenderry District Hospital, County Offaly, in view of the serious overcrowding in Ofalia House; (12) Deputy Hogan — the need to prevent the closure of the Brigidine Convent secondary school, Goresbridge, County Kilkenny; (13) Deputy Neville — the need to include Rathkeale under the new designated urban renewal scheme; (14) Deputy Finucane — the need to discuss what action the Minister intends to take following the discovery of dangerous objects, believed to be from Beaufort Dyke; (15) Deputy Michael Higgins — the removal of the FÁS scheme from the Galway Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals; (16) Deputies Howlin and Bell — the need for immediate action regarding the phosphorous bombs dumped in Beaufort Dyke to ensure public safety. The matters raised by Deputies Gilmore, Finucane, Howlin and Bell and by Deputies Flanagan and Hogan have been selected for discussion.
