Vol. 492 No. 1

Written Answers. - Newspaper Advertising.

Derek McDowell

Question:

197 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will outline the expenditure on advertising for 1997 in each of the national daily, evening and Sunday newspapers, by his Department and bodies under his aegis in receipt of Exchequer funds which are established by or under an Act of the Oireachtas. [13426/98]

The expenditure on advertising by my Department for 1997, including advertising in the newspapers referred to by the Deputy, is as follows: Justice, Equality and Law Reform Vote, £53,943; Garda Vote, £77,178; Prisons Vote, £1,173; Courts Vote, £31,478 and Land Registry and Registry of Deeds Vote, £2,712.

The detailed breakdown of the information sought by the Deputy is not readily available and could only be compiled by the expenditure of disproportionate amount of staff time and resources.
