Derek McDowell

Question:

41 Mr. McDowell asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she will outline the expenditure on advertising for 1997 in each of the national daily, evening and Sunday newspapers, by her Department and bodies under her aegis in receipt of Exchequer funds which are established by or under an Act of the Oireachtas. [13426/98]

The total amount paid in newspaper advertising in 1997 by my Department was £76,675.01. The breakdown was as follows:

£

The Irish Times

27,202.19

The Examiner

16,223.05

Irish Independent

£29,930.82

Evening Herald

1,829.20

The Star

1,489.75

Expenditure by bodies under the aegis of my Department is a matter of day-to-day administration for the agencies concerned and I have no function in the matter.
