143 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the percentage of those who entered this country as foreign students who subsequently applied for asylum as refugees; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13832/98]

The records in my Department in relation to asylum matters are not maintained in such a way as to enable the information sought by the Deputy to be extracted without the diversion of a disproportionate amount of staff resources which at this time would not be warranted.
