Question:

60 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Finance the number of requests received in his Department pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, 1997; the number of requests granted and pending; and the number of appeals received. [13713/98]

The Department of Finance has to date received 46 Freedom of Information Act requests. Final replies have been issued in the case of 35 requests and the remaining 11 requests continue to be processed by the Department. Where final replies have been issued, access to the records requested was granted in full in 21 cases, granted in part in ten cases and refused in four cases. The four refusals arose in circumstances where the records requested are not held by the Department.

The Department has received no appeals to date.
