Vol. 492 No. 3

Written Answers. - Motorised Transport Grant.

Liam Aylward

Question:

54 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will review the application by a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny in respect of his son who is Down's syndrome for a motorised transport grant under section 59(1) of the Health Act, 1970, and in view of the circumstances in this case as outlined on several occasions to his Department and the South Eastern Health Board. [13913/98]

The assessment of entitlement to a motorised transport grant in any individual case is a matter for the relevant health board. I have, however, referred the Deputy's question to the chief executive officer, South Eastern Health Board with a request that he examine the application for a motorised transport grant. I have requested him to let me know the outcome of this case. As soon as details are received I will correspond directly with the Deputy.
