337 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Education and Science his Department's policy regarding the adaptation of schools for children with physical disabilities; and the plans, if any, he has in this regard to improve the situation. [14100/98]
My Department is responsive to the needs of the disabled in the design and construction of school buildings.
All new school accommodation being grantaided by my Department includes access and other facilities for people with disabilities. Where some older buildings may not have such facilities, my Department gives priority to the provision of funding for alteration works where it is notified of a need by the school concerned.
