Vol. 492 No. 7

Written Answers. - Departmental Correspondence.

John McGuinness

Question:

314 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will have investigations made into a letter of complaint submitted to his Department by a person (details supplied) in County Carlow; if a meeting can be arranged between Department officials and this person to resolve these issues; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15124/98]

I understand that the Deputy has also tabled a question to my colleague, the Minister for Finance, in relation to issues referred to in the letter in question.

As regards other issues referred to in the correspondence, I am informed by the Garda authorities that this matter is currently before the courts and is thereforesub judice. In the circumstances, it would not be appropriate for me to comment, or for officials of the Department to meet with the person concerned.
