Vol. 493 No. 3

Written Answers. - Bovine Disease Controls.

Michael Creed

Question:

229 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person (details supplied) in County Cork, who is due to have a brucellosis herd test, is entitled to compensation in the event of reactors being identified in his herd. [16122/98]

The holding of the herdowner in question is currently not restricted under the Brucellosis in Cattle (General Provisions) Order, 1991, but is restricted under the Bovine Tuberculosis (Attestation of the State and General Provisions) Order, 1989. Recently scheduled herd tests have not been undertaken and the herd has been rescheduled for TB and brucellosis tests on 8 July 1998.

Herdowners are entitled to compensation in the event of a brucellosis breakdown provided they have fully complied with the requirements of the brucellosis eradication scheme grant arrangements.
