Vol. 493 No. 3

Written Answers. - Physical Educational Facilities.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

489 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Education and Science if a grant has been approved by his Department for a sports hall at the Rosses community school, Dungloe, County Donegal; the stage the new development is at; and when work will commence on the project. [16304/98]

Approval for the provision of a standard size PE hall at the Rosses community school has recently been granted. As the local community has fund raised £100,000 for the provision of a community facility and this has been matched with a grant from the Department of Tourism Sport and Recreation, the brief for the PE hall will be drawn up to take account of this additional funding.

The planning and building unit in my Department is currently making arrangements for the appointment of a design team. Architectural planning will be initiated when these appointments are made. The question of commencement of work will be considered when all stages of architectural planning have been completed.
