Question:259 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress, if any, to date on the provision of an extension to a national school (details supplied) in County Kilkenny. [16711/98]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 258 and 259 together.
The two schools to which the Deputy refers have requested major extensions. Before a decision is made regarding extending-refurbishing these schools, it is necessary that local consultation takes place as to the optimum course of action for national school provision in the town. The present position is that this consultation process has been initiated and is still ongoing.
