Written Answers - Personal Injury Claims.

Jim Higgins

Question:

208 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Finance the number of claims for personal injuries made against his Department between the years 1990 and 1997; the number of these claims in respect of which compensation was paid; and the total cash amount for each of these years. [18190/98]

There were two personal injury claims made against my Department between the years 1990 and 1997. The Department paid amounts of £12,500 and £18,121.23 in 1994 and 1997, respectively. In both cases the payments included the plaintiff's costs.
