Vol. 494 No. 3

Written Answers - St. Bricin's Military Hospital.

Ivor Callely

Question:

69 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Defence the progress of the discussions with a Dublin hospital regarding the bed occupancy in St. Bricin's Hospital, Dublin 7; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17973/98]

Discussions with a major Dublin hospital regarding increasing the utilisation of in-patient accommodation at St. Bricin's Military Hospital are continuing and some progress has been made. Regular meetings are taking place between my officials, the Army Medical Corps, and hospital management.

A number of important legal and insurance-liability issues have arisen and the Offices of both the Attorney General and the Chief State Solicitor have been consulted in order to clarify these matters.
All of the parties involved in this project are committed to seeing it succeed and the intention is to implement a pilot scheme as soon as the above issues have been resolved.
