Written Answers. - Sepecial Educational Needs.

Seán Ryan

Question:

156 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will report on proposals to provide further facilities for children with special learning difficulties in addition to the unit at St. Oliver Plunkett's national school, Malahide, County Dublin, in view of the number of children in the Fingal area of County Dublin who have been diagnosed as beind dyslexic. [18968/98]

The school referred to by the Deputy has tow special classes catering for children with specific learning disability. In September 1998 a further two classes were established in the following schools in north Dublin: Scoil Mologa national school Balbriggan, County Dublin and Scoil Naomh Colmcille, Newbrook Rd., Donaghmede Dublin 13.

The question of establishing further classes for children with specific learning disability is kept under review and additional provision will be made if necessary.
