Written Answers. - Disadvantaged Status.

Question:

127 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will establish a social exclusion unit to allow his Department to develop policies to tackle social exclusion; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19046/98]

My Department has developed a significant number of policies to tackle social inclusion and continues to give priority to provision for the disadvantaged.

My Department is currently engaged in an examination of its administrative structures and within that examination the need for co-ordination of policies across the various levels of education will continue to receive attention.
